Iowa One Call
 Iowa One Call provides contractors, homeowners and others who may be excavating, digging or trenching with a
single toll-free number to call for locating and marking underground facilities. The toll-free Iowa One Call number is
1-800-292-8989. You can get additional information at their website

Iowa law states that if you are excavating, including digging, you must call Iowa One Call at least 48 hours
in advance (of your digging) in order to minimize the risk of damaging any type of underground facilities (electric, gas,
telecommunications, cable television, water and sewer). The service is free and so is the phone call. Making the
phone call can help eliminate the risk of disrupting service, and greatly reduce the potential risk of serious personal
injury.
The Illinois one call system - Julie, Inc.
 Anytime you plan to disturb the earth in Illinois, whether as part of a construction job or a homeowner
project (such as putting up a fence, clothes line, basketball hoop, planting trees or shrubberies, installing a pool, planting
a garden, building a home addition, deck or foundation, etc.) Illinois law requires you to call JULIE at least two
working days prior to the start of your excavation project. The 48 hour notice does not include Saturdays, Sundays, or
holidays. If you dig before the 48 hours has passed you may assume additional liability. The toll-free Illinois on call
system - Julie, Inc. number is 1-800-892-0123.
Illinois law also requires that you start your project within 14 days from your call to JULIE. If
the markings become unclear at any time before, or during your project, please call JULIE to have the markings
